Sexuality is a part of life and is natural expression of physical intimacy with or without a partner. It can be difficult or embarrassing to have conversations about sex with your doctor but these discussions can be important. Most importantly, empower yourself with knowledge.
There are steps you can take to have a better understanding of your body and enhance sexual function. It is important not to compare yourselves to others. Each of us is unique and entitled to our own individual experience. We receive calls daily from women who are concerned that they can not have an orgasm with intercourse alone and require direct clitoral stimulation. You need to know that this is true for most women- 80% of women need direct clitoral stimulation for orgasm. You should not feel that something is wrong with you if you are in that group-most women are.
FOUR STEPS FOR EMPOWERMENT
1.Understand your Anatomy: Learn your anatomy, including the clitoris, G-spot, and other erogenous zones. This can enhance sexual experiences and confidence in one’s body.
2.Embrace Self-Exploration: Masturbation and self-exploration are healthy and normal practices that can help women understand what feels good and how to communicate that to a partner.
3. Have a Healthy Lifestyle: Having a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep, can positively impact sexual function and overall energy levels.
4. Cultivate a positive mindset: Cultivating a positive mindset and self-esteem can greatly influence sexual confidence. Engaging in activities that make you feel good about yourself, whether they are physical, mental, or emotional, can enhance your sexual well-being.
